The season so far

A Charlton fan looks at the season so far for the Sevenoaks Chronicle and records a mixture of buoyancy and frustration, asking a series of 'what if?' questions: So far, so good?

When you have done better than expected, one is bound to ask whether the team could have achieved even more.

Akinfenwa has really improved as a player you may laugh but from what ive seen of him this season hes a real handful to deal with on the pitch hes the heaviest footballer in the uk im just thinking with his work rate and scoring goals for fun at Wimbledon this season could be a good move for everyone and could become a fans favourite just an idea but I reckon we could sign him for around £500,000!.Other players who worth a gamble on are Pope at port vale who scored 2 on Saturday and what about wellings Harry Beutyman?straight swap for church just a thourght

There's probably a reason Akinfenwa has played for about 342 clubs, all League One and below...

Akinfenwa has to be the most improved player outside the championship,i would like see him given a chance at championship level say for 2 seasons or so see what he can offer hes been their and done it.Aparantly someone i know met him recently and says hes a nice bloke as well when you get talk to him so he could be a good ambasador for our club like doing charity stuff off the field and interviews after the game just an idea.On the team im very impressed with how peeters has managed to come in and steady the ship built a solid defence in TBH and Bikey i think either player could win player of the year i have been very impressed with both so far.Gomez is another candidate if he carries on the progress he is doing at charlton i reckon he could get a shock England call up hes a lot better than Chambers the current number 2.
The midfield still worries me a bit we do need to add pace perhaps over the jan window, one player i have been impressed with in non league who has bags of pace is Keanu Marsh Brown at Barnet,Blackpool came in for him on deadline day in august but i dont know what happened with that as he hasnt been playing for either blackpool or barnet as of late.He scored a superb wonder goal last season vs Lincoln when he started a mazy run from the right side of the half way line to the left side then edge of box and wham goal so he has loads of potential if managed correctly and a nice kid as well off the pitch.Buyerns has also impressed me scoring quite a few goals from midfield but he cant carry on forever he must be getting tired keep playing on a regular basis ,players do need to come in jan i feel we need a winger and a striker and also a back up keeper if henderson becomes injured or picks up a knock.I think we are going have an exciting season just as i predicted in the summer. So looking forward to playing Bournemouth with no Yann in the team so mr finch tells me!

"Buyerns (sic) has also impressed me scoring quite a few goals from midfield"

Minor point, I believe all his goals have actually come from the penalty spot.
