Brakes end losing streak

Leamington ended their run of three defeats with a 0-0 draw against Chippenham Town at the New Windmill Ground today. It was a scrappy match in blustery conditions with heavy showers of rain. Chippenham adopted a very physical approach to the game with Corbett in particular continually fouled to which the fifth rate referee responded with benign indifference.

Manager Paul Holleran made a number of changes in the side and Brakes looked better defensively with with the returning Guy Sanders combining well with Liam Daly. In the second half, Tony Breeden made a number of excellent saves. He was injured a number of times, but the referee was very reluctant to allow the trainer on to treat him. The lack of a reserve goalkeeper was thrown into stark relief.

Leamington had their first real chance on goal in the second half when Faulds burst through and the keeper, on loan from Bristol Rovers, tipped the ball on to the post. Perhaps the best chance fell to Wilding with a great pass from Sanders but he shot wide.
