Is there a curse on Charlton sponsors?

A number of Charlton sponsors have run into difficulties and the latest to encounter challenges is the Kent Reliance Building Society. Although it has a staff of only fifty, it had been growing rapidly. However, that growth has slowed down as it faced competition from bigger competitors. It has been under pressure from the Financial Services Authority to re-build its balance sheet.

However, a white knight is at hand in the form of a New York based private equity firm which proposes to take a 49 per cent stake and turn the KRBS into a bank: KRBS

KRBS has been a generous sponsor of the Academy as well as the club, but how a third tier club will appeal to a New York financier is another question.
