Coventry Blaze beat the Sheffield Steelers 5-4 at the Skydome last night to maintain their narrow lead at the top of the Elite Ice Hockey League as the season draws to an end. They were 4-1 ahead after the first period, but some careless defending and penalty plays let Steelers back into the action.
In the second period referee Dean Smith was knocked to the floor by a Steeler who then landed on top of him. I have never seen him a referee so furious and the offender was dragged away by the referee and one of the linos before receiving the red card.
